Funny enough, Kaitlyn and I went to the same high school, but she claims she doesn’t remember me (I swear I was unforgettable!). We both went our separate ways to college to tackle the first steps into adulthood, each with our own paths and ambitions.
But life has a funny way of bringing people back together. We reconnected back in our hometown at a friend's birthday party at Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, Texas. I saw her across the room and asked her to dance. She was just as beautiful as I remembered. We exchanged numbers and were both excited about a second date. But here’s the funny part—I never ended up texting her. Why? Because when she saved her number, she didn’t use “Kaitlyn.” She saved it as “KP.”
Months went by, and just when I thought she had moved on, she popped up on my phone again. We finally went on our second date—and this time, I wasn’t making any excuses. From there, it was nonstop. We spent every weekend together, and before long, that wasn’t quite enough. That led to our Wednesday “pick-me-ups,” and eventually, we found ourselves spending most days together.
It didn’t take long before we realized that, together, we made the perfect team. God definitely knew what He was doing when He brought us back together. And now, here we are, excited to take the next step in our journey—side by side, forever.
